Federal Government's $25k Home Builder Scheme

This week the Australian federal government introduce its new home builder scheme. This is a fantastic opportunity to anyone considering a new home valued under $750k or a substantial renovation which is valued between $150k - $750k. To be eligible the following criteria needs to be met.

  • construction must be contracted to commence within three months of the contract date

  • eligible applicants must fall under income caps of $125,000 for singles and $200,000 for couples

  • the cost of building a new home cannot exceed $750,000 and

  • a renovation price range of $150,000 up to $750,000 will apply to renovating an existing home with a current value of no more than $1.5 million.

  • the contract must be signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020.

The federal government will be working with Western Australia's Office of State Revenue to distribute the $25k. The consumer will be the applicant and they will be paid directly by the Office of State Revenue should their application be successful. More information on how to apply will be available from www.wa.gov.au/organisation/department-of-finance within the coming days.
